In a movement to elevate the status of women and promoting the empowerment of women, the most recent Instagram challenge has celebrities posting black and white selfies as part of the “Challenge Accepted” trend. Although it is not clear who launched the challenge, photos for the challenge began to surface during the weekend. Public relations and influencer marketing manager Cristine Abram said to the New York Times the Representative of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez speaks on Representative Ted Yoho sharp comments led to a “peak of comments on social media about feminism and the empowerment of women,” and that could have triggered the challenge.
