Gabriel Ichud says you brought her “Is the Gift You Left to Give” 20 years after her release – will you live in the works?

It’s been twenty years since Gabriel Union starred alongside Kirsten Dunst in the popular 2000 film Bring It On. But, no matter how long, the 47-year-old says the movie is “a gift that keeps on giving.”
During a recent performance on “Good Morning America,” Union told Robin Roberts that the Netflix Cheer Dock series is one of the reasons that Bring It On is popular two decades after its release. The original Bring It On told the story of two cheerleading captains – Union as Captain of the East Compton Squad known as the Clover and Dunst as Captain of the Toros, a San Diego squad.

The drama begins when new Toros captain Torrance Shipman (Dunst) reveals that Isis (Union) and her ace have stolen a big cheer routine they planned to take on the competition. But it seems that the routine was not theirs at all. Former Captain Toros, Big Red, stole routine from the slips for years.
“It just keeps bringing it back and thankfully, or unfortunately, the issues surrounding cultural appropriation remain absolutely relevant and that makes the film relevant,” Union said.
While five direct sequels to the video followed in the years that followed, none of them featured the original cast members. Union said earlier this year that it would be open to the idea of making a sequel because fans already want one with the original cast, director and writers. She says they often “dump those ideas,” but none of them have come out yet.
After Netflix’s cheerleader and star Jerry Harris have had such a massive success, Union believes there are people who want to see another point from another point of view in the sequel to Bring It On.

“We’re all always open to it. It will be really amazing,” Union said.
Gabriel Union’s Bring It On co-star Kirsten Dunst is also in a sequel. During a performance on the Kelly Clarkson show in September 2019, Dunst said that if they wanted to make another film, she would do it because “it will be so much fun.”

“Kirsten and I are down,” Union revealed in February. “I think all the original players are super open and down and ready.”
