Katy Perry pulled out all the stops to iHeartRadio’s “you Can’t Cancel the Pride” event on the night of Thursday. The singer and mom-to-be performed an upbeat medley of his hits during the virtual celebration of the Pride and COVID-19-relief. She began with the singing of a dance-y remix of their latest track, “las Margaritas”, while placing a bunch of flowers, before the transition to a mashup of two rejections: “I Kissed a Girl” and “peacock”. But she did not stop there! Katy also squeezed in a couple of verses of “Walking in the Air” and “Swish Swish” before to come back and finish with “Margaritas.”
A couple of hours before the iHeartRadio event began, Katy teased her performance on Instagram and Twitter, captioning a clip: “Many things are being cancelled (with reason, of confidence!) but #CANTCANCELPRIDE and not only that, but you can’t cancel the dance remixes with some of the already fav songs”. Laverne Cox and Elvis Duran hosted the live-streaming event, which raised funds for LGBTQ+ organizations such as GLAAD, SAGE, National Black Justice Coalition, The Trevor Project, and the International Action.
Fast-forward to around the 25:13 time stamp on the video above to see Katy all the #TBT-worthy performance, and check out the rest of the sequence to see appearances by Billy Porter, Kim Petras, Adam Lambert, Ben Platt, and more.
