It is for this reason that the Dixie Chicks changed their name

The members of The Chicks, which will include all the musicians in Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer, and Martie Maguire, have decided to eliminate the “Dixie” from the name of the band, which for a simple reason stated on their website: “we Want you to know right now.”

The news was timed to coincide with the release of a new single, “March, March”. The video shows images of the protests in real-life, including those who support the movement, ” Black Lives Matter, and the rights of LGBTQ, and the gears on climate change.

The Chicks have also acknowledged that they have granted permission to use the name of a previous band (of New Zealand), who has served as a pop group in the mid-1960’s. “To be an honest and a sincere thank you to The Chicks’ New Zealand’, because of your kind gesture to allow us to share your name,” said Maines, Stayer, and Maguire, in a statement, according to the People. “We are honored to co-exist together in the world, these sisters are exceptionally talented”.

This is not the first time that The Chicks have spoken out publicly on political issues. In 2003, the group has faced a backlash of unprecedented, after criticizing the decision of then-president George W. Bush to go to war in Iraq. The band has been included in the “black list” over the years, before returning with an album in 2007, and I’m not ready to back it upearning multiple awards for the musical, and launching the band back into the musical sphere.
