The Political‘s second season is full of so many outrageous twists and turns, that he may have lost some of the subtle details that the showrunners put in. For example, did you catch the reference to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin split? Well, Paltrow’s husband, Brad Falchuck, he wrote episode two and called it “Conscious Unthroupling” — a title almost as dramatic as the Netflix show in itself.
Back in 2014, Paltrow and Martin famously announced their divorce as a “conscious uncoupling.” Years later, they are willing to poke fun at the term of themselves, and Paltrow even the jokes of it in a “conscious throuple” with Martin’s girlfriend, Dakota Johnson. This phrase lends itself quite perfectly to the double throuple story in the The Political (yes, I said double. throuple.), and is of all the more intelligent of what comes from Falchuk. As a fan of the flame, that the “next-level trolling right there.”
Something tells us Paltrow, no matter the reference too, especially since her character, Georgina, makes it one of the best, at the end of the show. The Political‘s second season is now available for streaming from Netflix.
