Netflix is The Old Guard wobbled on our tails at full speed, which gives us Charlize Theron as kickass immortal mercenary named Andy. If you stop getting riled up by the blockbusters of Summer cliffhangers, this film provides a fair on that front. Andy immortal friend Quynh (Van Veronica Ngo), apparently, he was tortured for all eternity after priests tossed in an iron maiden in the sea for centuries. But contrary to what they had been led to believe, Quynh because it is not condemned perpetually to relive his horrible death in the coda, she appears in an apartment with no word on their flight. If the last turn has you confused, here’s a breakdown of the sequel to installation of an end.
Throughout the film, pharma-bro Steven Merrick (Harry Melling) hunting of Andy group of fellow immortals in order to understand their capabilities and to carry out experiments on them. Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), one of the immortals, helped Merrick to capture your friends with the hope that he will learn how to stop your immortality. When taken Andy, they discover that she lost her powers after she didn’t immediately heal from a gunshot wound. Newbie immortal of the Nile (KiKi Layne), and the former agent of the CIA Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) to help the capture of the mercenaries. After getting rid of Merrick, Copley good points that the members of the group have made. Now your job is to help the immortals with their assignments and to erase their tracks.
As punishment for his betrayal, the immortal exile Booker of your group of 100 years. Six months later, there’s a wrench thrown in that plan: during a binge, Booker discovers Quynh in his Paris apartment. Which is strange. Earlier in the film, the Nile had horrifying visions of Quynh, Andy first immortal comrade. After they fought side-by-side, Quynh had been captured by witchcraft. The priests pulled her in an iron coffin and threw it into the sea more than 500 years ago. This meant that Quynh repeatedly die and come back to life in the water.
How do Quynh do then? This ending clearly sets up a sequel, if there is one. Although we don’t have all the answers, we can take a look at the original comic from Greg Rucka, who also wrote the script. In the graphic novel, Quynh is a woman by the name of Noriko, who was one of Andy’s first companion of immortals as well as his lover. (Noriko is a Japanese name. Quynh is a Vietnamese, and the character of the ethnic it was changed at the request of the actress Van Veronica Ngothat could be known as Paige Tico The Last Of The Jedi.) Noriko collapses time and time again after getting washed overboard during a storm. When the output of this torturous cycle for good, she definitely has a chip on his shoulder. Hardened by his experience underwater, Noriko wants to make humanity suffer, and becomes the antagonist The Old Guard: The Force Multiplied.
So, let’s unpack Quynh of the destination screen. The reason why she does not get lost in the sea in a storm it was partially budget, according to Rucka in a Polygon interview. Now, it is a mystery as to how she escaped from the iron maiden in the water. Over time, perhaps, the metal has corroded to the point where Quynh was able to break free. Or someone recovered from the tomb and opened it as the exploration of the sea, or of finding the device on the ground, allowing Quynh to return to the life for good. However Quynh gave herself out of this situation, it is clear that she has a serious trauma to work through.
