"Supersonic Pussycat" Victoria Monét Is a Disco Funk Queen in Her New "Jaguar" Live Session

The ’70s disco funk reawakening has arrived, and Victoria Monét is leading the charge in an emerald green jacket so sparkly it reflects the music of the past. On March 18, Monét played a live session of the title track off her 2020 album Jaguar. Monét accompanied her performance of the funk-inspired song with some equally groovy dance moves that have us experiencing a major blast to the past. Since the video went live, fans of Monét’s funk-infused R&B style have rallied for her to do a collaboration with H.E.R. or Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s new band that performed at the Grammys on Sunday.

The live session comes less than a month after Monét gave birth to her baby girl Hazel Monét Gaines, whom she had with boyfriend John Gaines, on Feb. 21. Where she gets the energy, we have no idea, but the “Monopoly” singer knows how to put on a show no matter what. “Y’all REALLY NEED to pay attention to Victoria Monét!! SHE IS THE MOMENT,” Rickey Thompson said in a tweet. Watch the ’70s-inspired performance for yourself here.
