If you’re still mourning the end of Big Little Liesthen we have some good news for you: Perdition (from BLL creator and writer David E. Kelley) is about to become your new TV obsession. Premiering on HBO in the Fall of 2020this new and exciting six episodes of the limited series stars Nicole Kidman as a successful therapist, which gives an account — a week before your book is published — that her pediatric oncologist husband (played by Hugh Grant) is not who she thought he was. It is sure to give you more BLL the vibraphone, and Nicole Kidman is not the only thing that the two series have in common: they are also two of the TELEVISION programs based on the popular novels.

Perdition is based on the novel You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz, which was originally published in January of 2014. Other novels Korelitz include The Devil and Webster, The White Rose, The Sabbathday River, A Jury of Your Peersand Admission, which was adapted into a 2013 film starring Tina Fey and Paul Rudd. His next two novels, The Plot and The Afternoonit will be published in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

By Kidman, the resource You Should Have Known is his unpredictability. “The great thing about the series and what really attracted me to it— is that it is so twisty and nothing is what it seems”, explained during the TCA panel for Perdition in the month of January. Kelley agreed, adding that “This particular piece, the theme and the core of the denial that these characters lived and inhabited, drew me in. The propensity that all of them had to draw false narratives about who they were, who they are their partners, what to the people in their lives, and that give rise to the false illusions that have a surprising tenacity.”

If you don’t mind spoilers, then, without doubt, we would like to recommend Korelitz the curves of the novel as soon as possible.
