If you’ve been wondering if Project Power‘s Newt (better known as the guy on fire) is performed by Machine Gun Kelly, the answer is “yes”. And if you were surprised to see it appear in the Netflix movie, then you really should not be. Colson Baker (or Machine Gun Kelly, as he goes by the professional) may be best known as the rapper from Cleveland, but believe it or not, the 30-years of age, has actually been adding to his acting resume for a while now. In fact, he made his debut as an actor back in 2014 in the romantic drama Beyond the Lights.
In Beyond the Lights — the stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Minnie Driver, Nate Parker and Danny Glover — Machine Gun Kelly plays a self-important rapper called Kid Culprit that uses up to date Mbatha-Raw’s character (and tries to force the increase of the pop star to remove his jacket while it is being performed in conjunction to reveal the little outfit he’s wearing below). Despite playing with a rapper, we can ensure that the aggressiveness of the Child is Guilty is nothing like MGK in real life. In an interview with MTV News, she explained how to wear sunglasses, helped him get into character. “I never wear sunglasses,” he said. “Because I have the feeling that only hides you from the people, and that is not how I am. But Kid Guilty kind of sees himself above all the world, and that he is that kind of man.” And it worked, as MGK plays an antagonist that we wanted to give a punch in the face by the end of the movie.
