H.E.R. Just Made "America the Beautiful" All Her Own at the Super Bowl

We couldn’t take our eyes off of H.E.R. and her guitar as she sang “America the Beautiful” before the championship game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 7. Dressed in a bedazzled jacket and jeans, the 23-year-old singer absolutely nailed her performance of the traditional tune during Super Bowl LV.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, she opened up about her excitement over making the classic her own. “Honestly, I am so excited to just be performing at the Super Bowl. It’s a huge stage and it doesn’t get any bigger, you know? But I think the goal, for me, is to make [the song] my own,” she added. “I’m a huge fan of the different versions of ‘America the Beautiful,’ but I really want to bring some different elements in there . . . make it H.E.R. I’m just going to try to tell myself to have a really good time. But I’m going to be in there, getting my warmups in, and just praying that everything goes well.”

H.E.R.’s Super Bowl performance comes a year after Yolanda Adams teamed up with the Children’s Chorus of Miami for their rendition of the song during 2020’s Super Bowl 54. You can watch H.E.R.’s exceptional performance above.
