We have some good news for you, demigods! Rick Riordan’s well-loved fantasy series, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, is once again getting the live-action treatment, but this time as a Disney+ series. The author announced the news on May 14 a video posted to his Twitter page, where he and his wife, Becky gave him the news. “After a lot of hard work and a lot of support from you, Percy Jackson is coming to Disney+,” Riordan says in the video, high-fiving his wife in the excitement.
The author followed the video with a statement share I couldn’t say muchbut who are “excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the story of the original Percy Jackson five-book series.” Riordan added that he and Becky will be involved “in the person in all aspects of the fair,” which is already a huge difference from the film adaptations. Riordan has openly admitted on his blog that he had very little control over the two films of 20th Century Fox, once noted that he “saw the end of the script and saw what they were doing in the set, I realized that I had that step for my own peace of mind.”
The first of the five-book Percy Jackson series was launched 15 years ago, with the first film adaptation, which debuted a decade ago.
