Cara Delevingne Comes out as Pansexual During the Month of Pride

In honor of Pride Month, Cara Delevingne is opening up about their sexuality and what pride means to her. In a recent interview with VarietyFace came out as pansexual and he spoke of their sexuality, gender fluidityand the struggles he faced growing up as she came to terms with his identity. “I grew up in an old-fashioned, repressed English family,” the Face,” he said. “And I used the word ‘gay’ to describe things that were sh*t all the time . . . I think that comes from the fact that I just don’t want to admit that I was. I don’t want to bother my family. I was deeply unhappy and depressed. When you do not accept a part of yourself or love yourself, it’s like you’re not there, almost.”

“However, one defines themselves, whether it is ‘they’ or ‘he’ or ‘she’ I fall in love with the person — and that is all.”

Face then went on to talk about a crush I had on one of your girl friends as a child, and how to maintain their own sexual identity that she herself contributed to a mental breakdown when she was 15 years old. “Some days I feel more feminine. Some days, I feel more like a man,” he said. “I guess I never felt like I belonged anywhere as a child. Or whenever I felt that I belonged in my own body. I felt so lost . . . Once I was able to talk about my sexuality freely, I was not hiding anything more.”

Face statement comes shortly after his breakup with Ashley Benson, who she dated for two years. In the past, the Face has shrugged off the labels given to her based off of the people they date, noting that it feels more attracted to people of gender. “I always remain, I think, pansexual,” she said. “However, one defines themselves, whether it is ‘they’ or ‘he’ or ‘she’ I fall in love with the person — and that is all. I am attracted to the person.”

Recently, the Face has provided a $1 million collaboration between Puma and The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of suicide for youth who are questioning or identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community. In what pride means to her, the Face, said, “Pride for me is a sense of something I never had as a child. A sense of pride as a sense of belonging, a family away from your family, a place where you don’t have to apologize or feel embarrassed.”
