If you’ve ever seen The Last Dancethen you know that the series focuses both on the Michael Jordan basketball career as their relations within and outside of the pitch with his team-mates. ESPN 10-part sports documentary revolves around the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls season, which is considered the peak of MJ’s career), and some of Michael’s former teammates, are definitely not happy with the way it is presented, including Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, Craig Hodges, Ron Harper, and even Scottie Pippen. Apparently, Dennis Rodman is not too happy with MJ, but instead of coming to his own defense, spoke in support of Scottie.
While chatting with ESPN after the release of the doc, Dennis said that Michael (who helped to produce The Last Dance) didn’t exactly give Scottie credit was due. “Scottie was so underestimated and poorly paid,” said Dennis. “He must be holding his head higher than Michael Jordan in this documentary.” Despite the fact that Dennis will not criticize MJ directly, or comment on where their relationship stood, his defense of Scottie suggests that he is not happy with the doc that the rest of the former Bulls.
However, in September of 2019, Dennis said to NBC Sports, which — despite not being BFFs — he, Scottie, and Michael are near. “[We] have so much love for one another because we are not those who hate the one with the other,” he explained. “. . . We accept the fact that we have had the opportunity to play with one another. We are friends. We’re not calling each other every day and hang out, but when we see each other, we share love.” While it is not clear if that’s still the case, it is clear from these old photos of Dennis and MJ that their bond was something special.
