You're Invited to One Hell of a Party in the Star-Studded Trailer For The Boys in the Band

When a party doesn’t seem to be going the way you want it to, the easiest way to redirect is by having everyone play a game, and that’s exactly what happens in the trailer for Netflix’s The Boys in the Band. When Michael (Jim Parsons) throws a party for the quick-witted Harold (Zachary Quinto), all hell breaks loose when the party is forced inside due to rain. Instead of cards or charades, Michael comes up with the brilliant idea to have each person in the group call to confess their feelings to the one person they’ve always loved.

The Ryan Murphy-produced adaptation of The Boys in the Band is based on the Tony-winning play by Mart Crowley, which was a groundbreaking portrayal of gay life when it premiered in 1968. The cast of the Netflix film — Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesús, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, and Tuc Watkins — are reprising their roles from the 2018 Broadway revival, which, like the new film, was also directed by Joe Mantello. From the looks of the trailer, it’s one party we wish we’d gotten an invite to, and we can’t wait for the film’s premiere on Sept. 30.
