You do not need some happy TV now? Netflix is Say That Make could be just the program you’re looking for. The title pretty much gives it away: it is a wedding and the romance reality show, but it seems that it’s going to be refreshing and brighter and more clear than some of the other reality fare that’s been filling our screens in recent months.
The premise of the series is a little different than most of the “dating and romance” reality shows that have appeared everywhere lately. Instead of following couples who have not fallen in love yet, Say That Make binds to the couples long after that. Each pair in the show, has already planned to marry, but for some reason, have not been able to yet. Every boyfriend she gets to work with three experts for planning the perfect proposal, then put together the couple’s dream wedding. Along the way, the couple comes to sharing about their love story and what brought them to this point, the trailer shows a diverse group of couples with a wide variety of life experiences so far. From the sound of things, focused more on the heart (and maybe a little tearjerking) moments in place of the hyper-manufactured drama of dating shows, and honestly, we are absolutely on board with that!
In a format somewhat similar to Queer Eye (the two shows actually share an executive producer, creator of the series David Collins), a panel of experts to help every couple along the way. Say That Make has a trio of experts, each with different expertise: Jeremiah Brent covers the design, Thai Nguyen handles of fashion, and Gabriele Bertaccini is the resident expert on food. Even more impressive? Each wedding is planned in a week or less! See the complete trailer up, and get ready to get emotional when the series premieres Jul. 1 on Netflix.
