If you happened to notice that some of the spots in interview The Last Dance I found it a bit low, you’re not alone. After seeing the legendary basketball player Michael Jorden, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman throughout this ESPN docuseries, we had to wonder where these interviews were even filmed. It turns out that there is a whole story behind these three former player of the Chicago Bulls’ interviews.

The Last Dance the director Jason Hehir told Insider that when the planning for the series, he took the inspiration of the 2017 documentary The Defiant Ones about superstars of music, Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre. Hehir said that the interviews in the documentary looked high and dripped luxury, like that of the subject of the story. Hehir wanted to emulate that with The Last Dance because it’s all about NBA elite. In the attempt to make concrete the places of Jordan, Pippen and Rodman, however, was found with a couple of hitches.

First of all, Jordan refused to allow filming on the inside of your royal house. He wanted to keep as much of your private life as private as he could, which meant not allowing the production in the interior of your house. Hehir finished shooting of Jordan interviews in three different houses near where he lives in Jupiter, FL. Due to Jordan’s interviews were so important, Hehir does not have enough time in any house to do everything at once, so they had to use three different types. Rent one of the houses, to begin with, and the other two belong to friends of the people who work in the documentary. “You’d be surprised how quickly people will open their doors when you say,” Can Michael Jordan to come and be interviewed at your house?'” Hehir, said to Insider information.

Rodman interviews were not at home, either. Hehir shooting their interviews in a hotel suite in Los Angeles to continue with the luxury aesthetic. As for Pippen, the location of filming, as well, Hehir had problems there, too. Although Pippen did not allow filming on the inside of his house, he had moved on, that is the reason why you will not see any furniture in any of the shots. “We arrived and my jaw fell on the wrong path, because there was no furniture in the house,” Hehir said Privileged. “I think that his family had moved to the house of one or two weeks before when he was shot. They had all their things in boxes in the kitchen and the living room was this cavernous space.”

As for the other talking heads in the film, but that were shot in different locations, including some from their own homes and other borrowed spaces.
