We couldn’t be more excited when Netflix announced that it would restart The Baby-Sitters Club. After a long year of waiting, and an incredible recreation of the famous cover of the book, we’ve finally been given a release date: 3 July. The 10-episode series will follow five friends (and a few others) as they decide to start a babysitting service in the town of Stoneybrook. Instead of being in the ’90s as the original, the reboot, has been updated to the present day in order to cope with modern problems.
The new series stars Sophie Grace as an athlete and the president of the club, Kristy Thomas, Malia Baker, as a bookworm, and secretary, Mary Anne Spier, Shay Rudolph as a fan of fashion and the treasurer Stacey McGill, Momona Tamada as the artist and vice-president Claudia Kishi, and Xochitl Gomez as the new girl, Dawn Schafer. There is No need to worry about the lack in the factor of nostalgia, as Alicia Silverstone is going to play Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer aka Kristy Thomas’s mother.
Although the trailer does not give everything away, you can already say that is going to stay faithful to the series I remember (hello, there is the iconic clear of the phone) at the same time to keep things fresh and fun. See the trailer ahead, and prepare to binge when it all goes down on July 3.
