Netflix movie Fatal Affair it is an exciting (though predictable) story of a married woman who ends up entangled with an old love that goes horribly wrong. Ellie (Nia Long), whose marriage with Marcus (Stephen Bishop) is a bit on the outputs, running at the university pal David (Omar Epps), in his work, and he swoops in. It’s been 20 years since we’ve seen each other, and after almost hooking up, David can’t get over Ellie. He begins to stalk her, even leaving a disc of vinyl on the exterior of your home.

Ellie, the daughter of Britain (Aubrey Cleland) spots in the record at the counter of the kitchen and tells his mom what a good album it is, but it is clear from Ellie’s face that she knows where it came from and what it means.

Later, when David breaks into the house to attack Ellie and to his family, he puts in the registry to play. Despite the fact that it is battered and broken, you can hear the song in playback. He starts to dance and asks Ellie if she remembers dancing to the song way back when. Do you acknowledge that it is from the beginning of the movie, when they dance in the club? The song is “I Forget the Poor” by Patrice Rushen.

The great R&B song was originally released in 1982, and was later sampled for the The men in Black the theme of the music. That is why it can sound so familiar — unless you have an excellent taste in music and recognize the original. Where the original lyrics are all about “me forget the poor,” the same hook is about the “men in black” in the most recent version, performed by the film’s star Will Smith.

The The men in Black version takes a lot of the same vibe as the original, except the choir has new lyrics and Smith raps throughout the song. Rushen takes the whole song to itself in the original version. Honestly, it is a shame “that I Forget the Poor” has such bad connotations in the movie, because it is a soft jam. Now every time I hear it, not just think it The men in Black redo, but also remember that the time of a stalker creepy broke into a woman’s house on Netflix and danced around her living room while she looked scared. However, Rushen song is a gem.
