If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like if Bring It On and Step there was a Gene-Z baby, Netflix is here to provide you with a response! Work is that the baby and, as we can see in the trailer that fell on the 16th of July, is just as delightfully ridiculous as their parents.
The film follows high school Quinn Ackerman after she learns that the admission to the university of their dreams depends on their performance in a dance competition. When your school first category of the dance group not to accept her because she is very poor in the pace, Quinn decided to form his own dance squad in retaliation. (Some would say just take dance classes, but that does not have the same level of drama!) Sabrina Carpenter plays the rhythm-deficient Quinn, along with fellow Liza Koshy, Jordan Fisher, Keiynan Lonsdale, William Ray Tanner, and Michelle Buteau.
We only have the trailer to go by, but Work it seems to have all the qualities of the great films of the aughts: a goofy-yet-impressive cast of musicians, quippy banter, costumes, situations that would never happen in real life (you can’t dance, but decides to join the dance team last minute to enter in the university??), and the comic genius (we see you, Buteau!). In addition, we are here to Fisher as our protagonist — we hope that the winds are best for this man that made by John Ambrose. Watch the trailer above and get ready to learn some new moves when Work premieres in August. 7.
