Watch the Trailer Of Judas and the Black Messiah

With those words, Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield is coming for your Oscar. In August. 6, Warner Bros dropped the first trailer Judas and the Black Messiahthe highly-anticipated movie inspired by the real life of betrayal and the murder of Black Panther Party Chairman, Fred Hampton, the star of the Academy Award-nominated Kaluuya next to the Photography‘s Stanfield. From the trailer alone, we’re hooked.

British-Uganda Kaluuya stars as Fred Hampton, the young and charismatic activist, who serves as president of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in 1968. His work to inspire a generation to rise up and not back down to the oppression, the struggle for freedom, determine the fate of the Black community, and put an end to police brutality and murder of Black people put it directly in the line of fire of the Chicago Police, the FBI and the government. The FBI offers a deal to William O’neal (Stanfield), a Black man who faces five years in prison: to infiltrate the Black Panthers to provide data on the Hampton and he’s going to walk free. O’neal takes the agreement and rises in the ranks of the Party, struggling against his devotion to the cause and his fear.

Shaka King’s feature film debut as a director also stars Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Algee Smith and Martin Sheen, with Marvel Black Panther director Ryan Coogler to serve as a producer. The film — which takes dramatic liberties with Hampton and O’neal stories and not to serve as a straight biopic — was originally scheduled to launch in August. 21. Warner Bros. has pulled the film from its schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so there is no release date yet, but the trailer notes that the movie is only shown in the cinemas.
