Among the many dating lessons to remember, there is this: drunk text message, email, or sliding into the DMs of a former — or the idiot you think is the ghosting — is never a good idea, that is almost exactly what the three best friends find out for themselves on Netflix new romantic comedy, Desperados.
In POPSUGAR’s exclusive premiere of the trailer above, we see hopeless romantic Wesley (Nasim Pedrad) finally came to the things a guy likes you (Robbie Amell), when, as a clock, which falls off the face of the earth a couple of days later. In a move that we’ve likely all done at some point in our lives, or at least thought, she downs a couple of cocktails with your best friends Brooke (Anna Camp) and Michelle (Sarah Burns) and writes her ghost boyfriend for a ranting e-mail — only to discover that he was not a ghost; in reality, he was in a car accident while in Mexico. So the women take the most logical next step: you to board a plane to Mexico on a mission to find and delete the e-mail before he sees it.
Probably I think that this situation could not be more complicated, but in Mexico, the trio race to Wesley ex (Lamorne Morris), who soon gets wrapped up in its intrigues — all of which equates to a tremendously awkward and fun trip and that is inspired in real facts, in the writer Ellen Rapoport the real life.
“Embarrassingly enough, the inspiration for Desperados came from my own personal experience. My high school boyfriend went to the east coast for the summer, to stay with his father, and stopped contact with me for a couple of weeks. I was pretty hurt and decided that the best course of action was to write a supermean letter,” said Rapoport POPSUGAR. “As the postman pulled away from my house, with my letter in his bag, I opened my mailbox to find a very sweet letter from my boyfriend, about how he had gone on a camping trip with his father during the last two weeks, how much fun they had had, and how wonderful it was to be close again after his parents’ painful divorce. I ran to the post office and begged them to give me my letter back — and it worked!”
Only time will tell if Wesley e-mail of the deletion of scheme of work for her, but in the meantime, check out the trailer above, and then tune to see what happens when Desperados opens Friday, July 3 on Netflix!
