Michelle Obama is honoring the class of 2020 in a special way. On Friday, the former first lady made an appearance during MTV’s virtual Prom-a-thon to share a few words of encouragement. “Hey Class of 2020! Look, I know that none of you expected is missing in many senior year milestones, things as sports tournaments, or prom nights,” he said. “But I’m very proud of what I have seen of all. You are persevering through everything that we are facing and, look, there is no guide for any of this, and, however, it has been shown that the creativity and resilience beyond their years.” She went on to encourage viewers to “take a deep breath, dance your heart out, and enjoy this Dance-a-thon.”
The event was conducted by MTV and When We Have All The Votesa non-profit co-chaired by Michelle and Barack Obama, which aims to increase the participation of voters. DJ Khaled, Chloe x Halle, and Janelle Monaé were among the stars who participated in the musical evening. Watch Michelle’s full message in advance, and give it up for the class of 2020!
