During the Ferris Bueller’s Day meeting episode of Josh Gad’s Gathered Apart series the June 28 star of the iconic John Hughes films, remembered the late writer and director of the way he would have wanted: with laughter. Hughes, who died in 2009 of a heart attack, is best known as the godfather of the teen rom-com, along with his legendary comic writing style.
In the clip, the original stars of some of their films quoted their most famous lines, including, but not limited to Molly Ringwald of Sixteen CandlesSteve Martin Planes, Trains and AutomobilesJane Krakowski of National Lampoon’s VacationMichael Keaton of Mr. Momand Catherine O’hara to scream his way through Home Alone. There were even a couple of appearances from people who have already left the world of acting.
Hughes said, “If you create great universal characters that are fun and engaging and to touch people, to make something that will play everywhere.” Not only have these characters played in all parties, they too have suffered.
