If you were hoping that there would be more of the ridiculousness that is The Great soon, you’ll unfortunately have to keep waiting. While Hulu has not yet announced if there will be a second season of the occasionally factual show, its success, the talent of the actors, and their magnificent costumes have us believe that we’re going to hear soon. After all, who wouldn’t want to see more of Catherine (Elle Fanning) rise to power? She is not exactly “big” yet.
Though The Great does not end in a traditional cliffhanger, there are still a lot of loose threads to tie up. Is Leo gone for good? Is Catherine really pregnant? He made his coup to be successful after all? Granted, the story demonstrates that the answer to the last two questions is “yes”, but watching the show is only accurate when you choose to be, it is not known how it could actually go. Personally, I would love it if they explored more of Catherine’s many love affairs as the empress was known not only for his improvements in Russia, but also for his skill in the bedroom.
We are not the only ones with the hope of a season two: Sebastian de Souza (aka hottie Leo) not only wants to see more of the court, but also “like to see Catherine take the power, but . . . I don’t want to be too easy.” Unfortunately, it seems that even de Souza believes that Catherine made the right choice “because it involves Catherine in the story, and [Leo’s fate] raises the game.” A second season can’t be guaranteed, but if the fans of The Great they are not half as determined as Catherine, then Hulu would be foolish not to give people what they want.
