Stephen “Twitch” Boss and Allison Holker celebrated Love Day by looking back at your own wedding in 2013. Friday, the couple shared a heartfelt Instagram posts for the 53 anniversary of the Loving v. Virginia court case, which overturned laws prohibiting interracial marriage.
“Like your love for each other paved the way for the change, I want our love to do the same.”
“Love wins,” Stephen wrote next to a side-by-side photo of the Loving couple, Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, and a picture of him and Allison on their wedding. “53 years ago today, our life together became a possibility. Forever became a reality. Our family, our legacy. We could not have arrived here without the Lord & Lady of Love. And like their love for each other paved the way for the change, I want our love to do the same. To be an image of hope. A picture of happiness. An image that ACTUALLY looks like a reality of the drug puzzle. Like, parts that at one time they were separated forever, until someone said ” nah, there’s a bigger picture here.’ The construction of that image, you need patience. Humility. The focus. Optimism. Of the vision. The record. There is also another photo that needs this kind of attention. The image of all the people in the united states, it is considered that it is just that, people. The love fights. Love wins. So, the strap of his gloves in the united states. Let EACH ONE OF US to spread the love and the light of the equality, and the right thing to do to make this a place where our children do not have to be afraid to be the only piece of this puzzle in which we live.”
Allison echoed these same sentiments in his post, writing, “I was able to marry the love of my life . . . because Mr & Mrs LOVING showed us that love always wins! 53 years ago became the first interracial marriage to be legal! I am grateful and will continue to move forward with love!”
