The premiere of Hamilton Disney+ is just around the corner from 3 of July, and we couldn’t be more excited. Before the release, the original cast of Hamilton joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots for a stripped-down performance of “Helpless” during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday. For those not familiar with the show, “Powerless” is essentially the meeting (and the eventual proposal) between Eliza Schuyler (Phillipa Soo) and Alexander Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda).
While the entire cast could not be included, Miranda and Soo were joined by Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggie Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Leslie Odom, Jr (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Thomas Jefferson/Marquis de Lafayette), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton), and many other core members of the set (including The Umbrella Academy star Emmy Raver-Lampman). The biggest highlight of the performance, outside of Soo absolutely stunning voice, it was Diggs grooving to the beat before using your beverage as an instrument.
