On 6 July, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, took part in a debate about fairness, justice and equality of rights with young leaders from the Queen of the Commonwealth Trust, also known as the QCT. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were joined by Chrisann Jarrett, QCT manager and co-founder and co-CEO of which we Belong; Alice Wallace, director of the Equality of the Bahamas; Mike Omoniyi, founder and CEO of Common Sense of the Network; and Abdullahi Alim, who heads the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers network in Africa and the Middle East, to the virtual chat.

Harry and Meghan currently serve as president and vice-president of the TCC, the roles that have continued since his decision to take a step back and high-ranking members of royalty in the month of January. During the discussion, Meghan spoke of how the Black Lives Matter movement has allowed people to take a hard look at themselves. “It is not only in the great moments, in the moments of silence where the racism and unconscious bias lies and thrives,” Meghan said. “It is confusing for a lot of people to understand the role that they play in that, both passively and actively.”

“We cannot deny or ignore the fact that all of us have been educated to see the world differently,” replied Harry. You can follow the discussion above and hear the group talk about their hopes for the younger generation.
