Sasha Calle Finding Out She's Supergirl Is So Freaking Wholesome

It seems the DC Universe has found its new Supergirl in the form of The Young and the Restless star Sasha Calle. On Feb. 19, Deadline reported that the Boston-born Colombian actress is the first Latina Supergirl ever in the history of DC. Calle will be making her debut as the superhero in The Flash, which premieres in 2022, and found out she’d nabbed the role from the film’s director, Andy Muschietti.

In a video shared to Muschietti’s Instagram, the director starts off with misdirection, saying that they still don’t have an answer on who earned the role and that he needs to ask a couple more questions. “Can you fly?” Muschietti asks as Calle looks on confused. “Do you want to fly?” he then asks before pulling out the Supergirl suit as it all dawns on her. Calle immediately bursts into tears before saying, “Little me would be like, ‘No way!’ Can I freak out for a second?” You can watch Calle and Muschietti’s adorable interaction in the full video above.
