Celebrities and political figures are remembering the legacy of the Republic, John Lewis after which he died at the age of 80 on 17 July. The civil rights leader, who was battling stage four pancreatic cancer, served as a Representative of Georgia’s Fifth congressional district since 1987 and has played a key role in the 1963 march on Washington alongside Martin Luther King, Jr., who also he helped introduce the 2019 Voter Empowerment Actthat supports equal ballot access for seniors, students, low-income Americans, members of the Armed Services, persons with disabilities, and those who speak English as a second language. Recently, he praised Black Lives Matter protesters to fight against racial injustice, saying: “This gives me the hope that, as a nation and as a people, we are going to get there.
