Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor to Write Legally Blonde 3 Movie

Back in 2018, Reese Witherspoon, announced that a third Legally Blonde the film was directed our way. At the same time, she confirmed that it was going to be a repeat of his iconic role of Elle Woods — and we were very happy, to say the least. But since . . . it is a kind of state of crickets. The film was originally set for release in February of 2020 (which obviously never happened), and the original screenwriters, Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, were according to the reports of return to write the sequel.

But finally, on Monday, Deadline confirmed not only is the movie still on the horizon, but Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor have been signed to write the script. He also confirmed that “Reese Witherspoon remains on board, reprising his role as lawyer Elle Woods,” and that the film is “the production through their Hello Sunshine study with the franchise’s original producer Marc Platt.”

Legally Blonde 3 it will not be a rewrite of Smith and McCullah of the original version, says Deadline. The couple takes the film in a different direction and giving it a completely new and fresh story. But the film is, without a doubt, in good hands. Most recently, Kaling cocreated the popular series of Netflix I’ve Never while Goor is a two-time winner of an Emmy as a writer who cocreated Universal Television Brooklyn Nine-Nine and NBC Parks and Recreation.

There is No word yet on if the entire cast will be back for the sequel, or exactly what is in store for Elle Woods. Although, it has not been the speculation about whether he will run for office. Any way, we can’t wait.
