Can we just take a moment to thank Mindy Kaling for introducing us to Maitreyi Ramakrishnan? Maitreyi star Mindy Netflix show, I’ve Neverand the series marks his first Hollywood role. In the beloved series, Maitreyi plays a first-generation Indian American teenager navigate through the struggles of high school, the children and adolescence. As much as we love her character, we are also obsessed with their real-life friendship with Mindy. When recently asked why Maitreyi was the “perfect choice” for the role, Mindy said that it was for “many reasons”. “I loved that she was in the south of India,” she explained. “She is also so naturally funny and comfortable in her skin. To be the leader of a show, to really anchor it, you have experience, or be naturally confident, and she was the last.”
Maitreyi shared similar feelings when Mindy asked what she loved most about having as head in an interview for Entertainment Tonight. “You’re so cold. This is not just for me, this is the entire cast,” Maitreyi were shed. “We all love you and think you’re so connected to the earth. But, as we know Mindy Kaling can write, she can act . . . she can do everything. And, then, you’re just this cold person and you’re so awesome.” Let’s hope that this is not Maitreyi and Mindy’s latest project together because they make a great team.
