It doesn’t take a lot for Kelly Clarkson to amaze us, especially when singing is involved, but she constantly finds ways to raise the bar. The talk show host joined Jimmy Fallon for The Tonight Show on Sept. 12, and the duo played a brand new game called “Different Tune.” They were both challenged to sing the lyrics of a familiar song with the instrumentals of a completely opposite track. Think Harry Styles’s “Watermelon Sugar” with Backstreet Boys’s “I Want It That Way” — and it’s harder than it looks!
Clarkson isn’t one to shy away from a challenge (she’s our OG American Idol winner, after all), and she went above and beyond on the first round by not only singing Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic” but by imitating Morissette herself. She nailed every inflection, while staying on top of the lyrics set to Toto’s “Africa.” Naturally, Fallon lost his cool over the spot-on impression!
