Today the dose of early 2000s nostalgia is brought to you by Andie Anderson and Ben Barry — er, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey — so strap in and prepare for a fun walk down memory lane. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days colleagues just shared an Instagram exchange that has fans of the romantic comedy ready to frost themselves. On the 27th of June, that is Take Your houseplant For a Walk Day, Hudson decided to celebrate the little known holiday by making reference to his character’s infamous “love fern.”
The actress he shared a clip of the scene from the movie in which Ben suggests that he and Andie go to couples therapy after the storms of his poker night with his precious loose love fern in hand. (You can see above to refresh your memory.) Hudson captioned the snippet on Instagram: “Heard it was #TakeYourPlantForAWalkDay is clear, Then, that I thought of one of my favorite co-stars… #TheLoveFern 🌿” At no time, McConaughey chimed in commenting, “I Hate to see you leave, but love to watch you go. #ThatDamnFern 🌿”
