Manifesto really upped the ante in season two, and we are eager to more. Fortunately, the show will be back for another season. On the 15th of June, NBC confirmed the drama has been renewed for a third season.
During the season two finale, the show changes all the rules as Zeke mysteriously comes back to life after freezing to death and seemingly escapes his date of death. Of course, one of the most terrible moments of the episode is when a piece of the Flight 828 aircraft was found in the ocean in Cuba. If Ben, Michaela, and Cal come home, why is it part of your aircraft to the other side of the world?
In the month of April, the creators teased potential plot points of the third season during an interview with TVLine. According to Jeff Rake, the season two finale cliffhanger and what really happened to the passengers of a Flight 828 would be explored even more in season three. “That’s going to be a long season, based on the science, the science is with the mythology of the investigation,” he said. “For those who have been the feeling that the episodes have become a bit on the science of light or of research of light, they have a lot of good material coming up.”
The third season may also include another aspect of “the three in the shadow of the boys,” who disappeared in the season two finale. “These three guys, in fact, may be the next people that are experiencing the notion of ‘death and return’, and you are going to set up his own incredibly high stakes,” the Rake teased. “Again, a dual journey — both in the real world, because there are outstanding issues between the boys and the family Stone, but also in the mythological side of the equation. What bear we are to see them die and come back, as we have seen with Zeke, as we have seen with Griffin? What does that mean for the larger mythological journey of the passengers? We will learn the answer to that in the middle of season three, and they are going to remodel our mythology for the rest of the series. It’s going to be probably the most significant mythological of the card once in the whole series.”
