The fourth season of 13 Reasons Why of the earth on Netflix on June 5, and we will say our last farewell of the Freedom of the High crew. We can’t wait to see how the show wraps up all the moments of WTF and cliffhangers of last season, and one thing that we’re really asking is whether Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) might somehow come back at the end of this season.
If you remember, the first season of 13 Reasons Why focuses on Hannah’s suicide as the people who have contributed to their torment emotionally had to deal with learning how much that would hurt. The first season of the show, followed by the book of the same name, very close, but the show ends where the book was made. This means that all the following seasons were an unknown territory. And despite the fact that Ana was dead, she came back the second season for the bridge of the plot of the original story, and in the new world.
However, after Langford filmed of the second season, she seemed quite satisfied to leave the story behind. She bid a fond farewell to the show on Instagram in 2018 and with firmness said: “‘Hannah…I love you…and I let you go” Those are the words that I was able to say six months ago, and now finally can share with you as my journey in @13reasonswhy has officially come to an END!”
Langford reiterated his stance on Hannah’s not going to return after season two Entertainment Weekly in the 2018 as well. “For me, to let Hannah go was in season 1; season 2 was Clay to let it go. Was being able to help the Clay on that trip as Hannah and let the Clay has its time to let go of Hannah,” she said EW.
It would not be unusual to have Hannah make some kind of appearance at the end of the season, taking into account that it is a common tactic for shows to bring characters back for the final. The obvious problem is that Hannah is dead, so that the show can’t easily take her back unless it is in a vision or a flashback of some kind. We already know that Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice) will be at the end of the season despite his death at the end of the third season. In the video of the fourth season, Prentice can be seen on the reading table; so that if a dead character is making an appearance in the final, why not another?
The cast and the showrunners haven’t said anything about Langford return of the fourth season, and judging by Langford own comment about leaving Hannah behind two years, you can’t assume that we do not have a role in this last season— but we will know for sure when it arrives on Netflix on June 5.
