Hidden figures Is Becoming a Stage Musical, Thanks to Disney

On the 22nd of July, New York Times revealed that Disney Theatrical Productions is the development of a musical based on the movie of 2016 Hidden Figures. The study of the production confirmed the plans, announcing the intention of the mount a creative team of Black artists for the show that has supposedly been in development since the year 2018. Apart from the news that film critic Elvis Mitchell will serve as creative consultant, other details like cast and the production potential of the dates have yet to be determined.

Hidden Figures follow the story of the struggles of the NASA faced mathematician Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), NASA, the supervisor and the mathematician Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and NASA engineer and mathematician Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe). The film is loosely based on Margot Lee Shetterly’s book of the same name. Since the casting has not yet been completed, fingers crossed that Monáe can reprise his role and is put on the EGOT journey.
