Gabrielle Union Talks America’s Got Talent on The Daily Show

Gabrielle Union is opening up about their experience in America’s Got Talent. On Tuesday, the 47-year-old star stopped by The Daily Show With Trevor Noah to talk about the importance of making people responsible for the promotion of the anti-Black feelings in the workplace. Reflecting on his legal battle with the show of NBC, the Union spoke about the challenges they face working with Simon Cowell and the AGT the crew.

Recalled Cowell smoking on the interior during his first day of filming, saying: “When your boss — the person who has the ability to determine who gets opportunities and who doesn’t — don’t believe the law applies to the rules that apply to him, and he does so the view of the NBC and Fremantle and Syco and nobody cares about Simon Cowell, the exposure of all these employees to second-hand smoke — that day one, within the first hour — what is the message you think that sends to any person who has a problem with the very real racism and the lack of accountability? And it goes on and on and on.”

Of the union, then spoke about the NBC independent research in their reports of racism and discrimination on the set, saying that the investigation was not impartial. “When the NBC and Fremantle and Syco to pay for the research, the control,” she said. The union went on to share how NBC’s president Paul Telegdy threatened his agent, adding that “This is what is happening from the top of the company. So as we are all wanting to be part of the solution, as we are all wanting change, we have to keep the people in the top accounts.”

In May, NBC and AGT shared the results of his research in a statement, saying: “It has been revealed that any person associated with the parade of any insensitive or disparaging comments about the Lady of the Union appearance, and that neither race nor gender was a contributing factor in the advance or the removal of the contestants at any time. Research has shown that the concerns raised by the Lady of the Union had no influence in the decision not to exercise the option in his contract.”
