Eminem and Kid Cudi, the New Song takes a Political position

For Eminem and Kid Cudi’s first collaboration, “the Adventures of The Man in the Moon & Slim Shady”, is a powerful force. The most four-minute song addresses topics such as police brutality, the COVID-19 the Oval Office, and more. Typical Eminem fashion, the rapper packs a punch with a letter wrapped up with the activism, anger, and rhyme. The second stanza starts with a direct call of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees — rap, “F*ck Drew Brees” — after the athlete reported to its knees during the national anthem at a interview with Yahoo Finance for the past month.

Eminem continues with his active politically diatribe, without showing remorse for those who are not wearing masks in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. “Bunch of idiots in the office / Half of us walk as a zombie apocalypse, the other half are just pissed off and I don’t want to wear a mask and are only of mockery / And that’s the way to finish the capture of the sh*t off ’em, I just used the same shopping cart, I am now in a f*cking coffin of that cough,” he raps.

The Detroit-born rapper was put in place, and uses his passion to offer prayers for the victims of the police brutality in the last part of his verse. “Prayers to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, how the f*ck is that a lot of cops are dirty? / Stop it, man, please, officer, I’m sorry, But I can’t breathe when I have them on top of me, his godd*mn knee in my carotid artery.”

Eminem has often used his platform to touch social issues, as it did at the iHeartRadio Awards in the year 2018, when he delivered a powerful performance about gun violence with their song “nowhere.” See the lyric video for “the Adventures of The Man in the Moon & Slim Shady” above, and prepare to be impressed by the depth of the appropriate letters.
