Chris Evans has just announced his most recent project, and is not acting in concert. The Avengers star launched its again the civic participation website, A Starting Pointon the 14th of July to help Americans learn about political issues and policies, in the form of short, digestible videos. Chris worked on the site for two years, along with the site of the co-founders, the actor and filmmaker Mark Kassen and technology entrepreneur Joe Kiani.

In a Twitter introduction video to the platform, Chris said that he hopes that the impartial content to create “a little more of the connectivity between the elected officials and their constituents” and “to demystify some of the issues that [he] think that some people may find daunting.” The goal is for the voters to understand policy issues of importance to them, and to make sure that their voices are heard in upcoming elections and those that follow them. Read on to know what is A Starting Point, it is exactly and how it can be used to help inform their policy decisions.

What Is A Point Of Departure?

A Starting Point provides answers to questions on the political issues of elected officials. For every question that you may have, the site presents the responses of several elected officials — from both the Democratic and Republican parties — in order to give a holistic view of the topic in question.

The idea was born from Chris’s frustration after trying to Google a problem that he did not understand while watching the news. When the actor was to seek his question, he was flooded with a “mountain of information”, which is explained in the site’s “Welcome” video. He thought, “what if there was a way that I could get not only concise answers to common questions, but to get the answers from the elected officials themselves?”

How Does It Work?

The site is divided into three sections. The first section, A Starting Point, the characteristics of short answers to frequently asked questions, which are classified into large buckets like the economy, education and health. For each question, there are answers of three Democratic and Republican officials, and each employee can attach links to learn more about the topic. The second section, Daily Points, it is an open forum where elected officials can post 60-second videos on any topic of your choice. These representatives may use this space to talk about the specific problems of their districts. Finally, Counterpoints foci of the debate on specific questions between two members of the opposition parties. These videos of the elected officials are also 60 second and address relevant issues that they would like to explore. The idea is that instead of packing a number of items in a great debate, the representatives can address questions on an individual, focused level.

How Can You Help Us?

A Starting Point provides the resources for the Americans to make informed voting decisions, and ultimately, to help build a government that reflects what they personally believe in. The people that might be intimidated by the avalanche of news or are simply interested in becoming more involved in politics you can surf the site to stay informed ahead of the 2020 election.

“Taking into account everything that is going on in the world, the more political participation is always a good thing,” Chris said in an interview with The people. “It is only to help the government work better for us, and that best represent who we really are.”
