DaBaby and Roddy Ricch spoke out against the racist police brutality with their chilling performance of “Rockstar” during the 2020’s BET Awards. DaBaby opened the virtual performance with his face against the pavement and a police officer’s knee on his neck, wrenching a reference to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. As the slow camera pan security, DaBaby hit together with the song “Black Lives Matter a Remix of” to tell the story of their encounters with police brutality and racial profiling before the video cut to the clouds. DaBaby and Roddy Ricch brought to the spectators on the Ground while hit next to the burning of a police car surrounded by protesters wearing masks and t-shirts reading “I am George Floyd”, “I am Trayvon Martin”, and “I am Breonna Taylor.” As the video came to an end, the end of the card read: “In loving memory of all the lives lost to racism and police brutality.” Watch the video above.
