Ariana Grande and Thundercat Unite For a Groovy Performance of "Them Changes"

There’s a new addition to my list of much-needed 2020 highlights: Ariana Grande’s surprise appearance at the virtual Adult Swim Festival. On Nov. 13, the singer joined forces with Thundercat to perform his song “Them Changes,” along with drummer JD Beck and keyboardist DOMi. The quartet delivered a funky rendition of the track, playing against a digital backdrop of the kitchen from Adult Swim series Aqua Teen Hunger Force. “It feels like Ariana and I are forever connected through Mac [Miller], and this is part of the healing process,” Thundercat said in a statement. The set helped raise money for the American Civil Liberties Union.

Grande previously covered “Them Changes” during a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session in 2018. At the time, she called it her “favorite song of the past year and a half.” Following her latest staging, she took to Twitter to thank her fellow musicians for the collaboration. “Thank u brilliant trio for having me,” she wrote. “Love u always @thundercat.” Thundercat then responded with a sweet picture of him and Grande rocking leopard-print headbands, adding, “Love you too Ari.” Watch the fun staging above!
