Yvonne Orji is very aware that Molly lifted some eyebrows during season four of Unsafebut she carried the role with the highest class and badassery, so it should come as no surprise that she earned herself an Emmy nomination. When Leslie Jones announced the highly-anticipated categories of July 28, Unsafe it came with three nominations: outstanding comedy series, Issa Rae for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, and Orji for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series!

As Issa the (former?) best friend in the HBO series that is exactly what she is: an outstanding supporting actress. Over the last season and the series in general, Molly has dealt with the constant struggle that is the work-life balance, all while continuing to shine a light on the narrative of Black women in search of therapy, interracial relationships with the on-screen keyboard partner Alexander Hodge, and the difficulties of navigation, adults, women, friendships. The viewers do not always have the support of Molly’s decisions, but there are many aspects of his character that individuals can relate to, and Orji the ability to capture all that is why we are locked, not the slightest bit surprised by his nomination.

Orji took to Twitter to reflect on your nomination, writing, “I know Molly highlighted’all THE devils this season, but shout out to all of you for sailing with @insecurehbo and VOTE!!! We have them HERE! And it’s even sweeter when THE ENTIRE team THRIVIN TOO! 👏🏾👏🏾 to @IssaRae on her Emmy nod, the whole show, And @BlackLadySketch!” She also posted a video of the same share the good news with their parents in Instagram, and you were with pride through the phone.

Greetings to all the Unsafe of the family, and Orji, because it is as complicated as Molly, she really is an outstanding actress.
