How Long Was Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton at Broadway?

Lin-Manuel Miranda has become a household name thanks to her musical success Hamilton. In addition to writing, music, lyrics, and book for the Broadway show, also originated the role of Alexander Hamilton. However, he did not star in the musical as long as you might think. Hamilton the first premiered off-Broadway at The Public Theater in January 2015. The show eventually began previews on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (also known as the home of Miranda in the 2008 Broadway musical In the Heights) July 13, 2015, prior to its official opening in August. 6, 2015.

It didn’t take long for the musical to become a huge success. Along with winning a Tony for best musical, Hamilton he also won a Grammy for best musical theater album. In addition, Miranda took home the Pulitzer Prize for drama for the musical as well as the Drama League Distinguished performance Award. After less than a year in the role, Miranda announced his departure in June of 2016 and gave his last performance on the 9th of July 2016. Although Miranda has not returned the show to Broadway, because, he did reprise his role of his career three weeks in Puerto Rico in the year 2019.
