4 Reasons Crazy, Stupid, Love Is One of the Best Rom-Coms

When a rom-com successes of the right, know. It’s as if every character and every scene has been hand made to personally spit your Pink from laughing too hard, or text your BFF that comforting quote that you simply can’t get out of your head. For me, Crazy, Stupid, Love is that film.

Notnot only because of the scene in which Jacob (Ryan Gosling) takes off his shirt and Hannah (Emma Stone) tells her that it looks with Photoshop (but it doesn’t hurt). Crazy, Stupid, Love is right up there with When Harry Met Sally and 10 Things I Hate About You in his narration, the humor, and the number of deeply romantic lines that make your heart ache. Unlike many other rom-coms, this movie is ironic in its humour, and manages to be witty without being cheesy. Also, the twist ending in the courtyard of mini-golf that puts me each time.

More than anything, the film has a story to tell and a message worth listening to, no matter what stage of life you’re in. If is 13 years, Robbie pre-teen in love with his babysitter Jessica, the new romance between the main characters Jacob and Hannah, or the complexities of Hannah’s parents, Emily (Julianne Moore) and Cal (Steve Carell) divorce, there is something in this film for almost everyone. Keep reading to see exactly why the brilliant film of 2011 is still worth seeing after all these years.
