Netflix teen drama Beading is back for a second season, but it’s also going to be the last. Then, why Netflix decided to end Beading? When the platform picked up the show the second season, it was with the understanding that this would be the last season, giving the creative team plenty of time to prepare, but we’re still not completely sure of what was behind the decision in the first place.

As is usual for Netflix cancellations, there is little or no information to find out why Beading has the axe. Ratings on Netflix are famous for being kept in secret, so there’s no way for the common viewers to get an idea of what the display of the numbers and if that was the cause of the cancellation. The show was certainly not one of the “big names” super buzzy titles in the social media, but, as we know, that do not always correlate perfectly to the actual numbers of audience.

It is also possible that the story came to a natural end. Beading it is not entirely original of the series; it is based on a 2013 novel (also called Beading) by Kirsten Smith, who also serves as co-creator of the Netflix adaptation. It is not a series of books, just a single stand-alone novel, so it is very possible that the creative team simply chose not to take the TV version too far beyond the plot of the books. Netflix has a mix of history when it comes to movies and TELEVISION shows based on books. Some franchises, such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, stick mostly to the timeline of the books and at the end when they do, while others, such as The Cabin Of Kissesto go beyond the time frame of the source material.

What can we expect from the last season? Much, it turns out! “Season 2 picks up right where it left off. We thought it was going to be very exciting for the people to be put squarely in the shoes of our trio of right on the heels of all the drama that just happened, so we just jump right back in,” Smith revealed to HollywoodLife. Even with all the antics that each of the three girls up individually, however, she promises fans that the friendship will remain at the centre of the fair. “They are separated by a little bit, but we wanted to get back together, as fast as we can, because I feel like their friendship is the heart of the fair. They are always going to go through some of their own trips along the way, but we don’t want to keep them separate for a super long time.” We can’t wait to see how Elodie, Tabitha, and Moe stories that envelop you when the second and final season of Beading success of Netflix in August. 25!
