Viola Davis is taking a stand against racial inequality in the united states. On the 5th of June, the winner of the Oscar, the actress shared a photo of her, to join one of the many protests which have happened after the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer on the 25th of May. In the mighty Instagram, which features some of his former teammates and friends Octavia Spencer, Elisa Perry, and Yvette Nicole Brown, Viola spoke of the “anger and pain” she experienced as a Black American and the injustices that she has dealt with throughout his life and his career.
“The above was my elixir,” she captioned the image. “My anger and pain, like many Black Americans, is rooted in the depth of my soul. Too many years of that will numb it, which has led to the implosion. But standing up, with these beautiful souls in the protest and the reception of love and be seen as a vaccine. No longer will we be silent when we are being deleted. Since we are not going to work overtime to make you feel comfortable in the middle of microagressions and hatred. Since we’re not going to justify or excuse to kill us, the suppression of us. We want what we want. No longer will contact you reduction of our hopes and dreams. We will NOT excuse our failures, because it is our right to fail and come back. What we will do, what we’ve always done is to give and receive love when it is shown to us,” he said. “We will sit down at the table next to her. But this time . . . from now on . . . no longer will we beg for a seat. Because . . . by God, that we deserve to be there. 🙏🏿🙏🏿❤❤”
