Timothée Chalamet and Pete Davidson Nail the Cringey TikTok Rapper Vibe a Little Too Well

Timothée Chalamet and Pete Davidson took over Saturday Night Live on Dec. 12, and while they made plenty of jokes, it’s “yeet” and “skrrt” that’ll be ringing in my ears for days afterward. As the Dune actor made his hosting debut on Saturday night, he enlisted Davidson’s help plenty of times, like when they played an obnoxious rap duo against Questlove and Punkie Johnson’s Queen Latifah.

As Questlove and Johnson reflect on the culture of hip hop with Ego Nwodim hosting, it’s clear Chalamet’s “$mokecheddathaassgetta” and Davidson’s “Guaplord” really don’t understand music beyond what they’ve seen on TikTok and . . . Geico commercials? It’s equal parts cringy and hilarious to see the pair perform their “hit track” live before Questlove loses his cool. Can you blame him? Watch the full skit above.
