The second season of Netflix’s Dead to Me tied up some loose ends, while creating a handful of new. Sure, we learn how to Steve Wood really died, and the stop sign Jen has been the struggle which is placed in Laguna Beach finally, but the impulsive decisions of Jen and Judy have opened several boxes of chaos in which the whole world will have to face in the next season, so we are officially getting! Monday, July 6, the streaming giant announced that Liz Feldman dramedy has been renewed for a third and final season.
“From the beginning to the end, Dead to Me it is exactly the show I wanted to do. And it has been an incredible gift,” Feldman said in the statement announcing the renewal. “Tell a story emerged from the pain and the loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me, as a human being. I will always be in debt with my partners-in-crime, my friends for life, Christina [Applegate] and Linda [Cardellini]and our bright, talented writers, cast and crew. I am beyond grateful to Netflix for support Dead to Me from the first day, and I am delighted to continue our partnership”.
Fortunately, the show has already launched its next great drama: will Ben get caught by hitting Jen and Judy in the season two finale? In the last scene of episode 10, the two women are driving back home in a new car when another vehicle hit on the driver’s side at full speed, hitting Judy unconscious and hurting Jen. Ben is revealed to be the other driver, apparently driving under the influence of the camera pans to an empty bottle of whiskey beside him before he is clear. While both Jen and Judy seem to be gaining awareness in the seconds after the fall, who knows how coherent of one of them, after a blow like that! The next season will have to deal with the aftermath of the letter, especially if the woman was able to see Ben’s face in the smoke.
Of course, there is also Steve murder to deal with, which at the end also makes a mockery of when the dog starts digging around where Jen and Judy was buried in the forest. If your body has been found, Detective Anna Perez is going to find it quite difficult to ignore Jen’s confession as they planned. We’ll have to wait and see how the series wraps up all these great stories, but in the meantime, we are happy to see that there is a little more of life left in Dead to Me.
