Get ready for your cup overflow with nostalgia — Netflix is the addition of several iconic Black sitcoms of the late ’90s and early ’00s, that will very over the next few months. On the 29th of July, the serpentine, the heavy Black wire from the account revealed that comedies such as Moesha, The Game, Sister, Sister, Friends, The Parker, Half And Halfand One-on-one it will be premiered on the site in the course of three months, from August to October.

The announcement was paired with a video of the stars of each series, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Tia and Tamara Mowry, and Jackée Harry, share the news and highlight some of their favorite moments from the shows. He also thanked the fans, noting that many have been asking for Netflix to add more of classic Black shows at the serpentine years ago (this editor included, thank you very much!).

The addition of the seven of the sample is part of Netflix’s initiative to highlight the Black content on the streaming service. The serpentine already has a group of documentaries that center on the Black experience, specifically in regard to racial injustice, and has recently added a number of classic film noir to their line-ups. Premiering shows such as Moesha and Friends it is a brilliant move that not only fills a need (the majority of these programs are only available to stream through Amazon Prime Video or Itunes, or are not available at all), but it provides a more balanced representation of Black media. Each one of these shows is a different look to Black lives and joyful in that!

Now that Netflix has broken the glass ceiling, and hopefully that is going to include more entertainment and other streamers to follow his example. There are a lot more Black comedies where the seven came, and I would be happy to provide a list if you need it! Check out the release dates for the seven iconic comedies ahead and be ready to delete the program, you have a lot to do.
