Jennifer Hudson Embodies Aretha Franklin in connection with Trailer

Jennifer Hudson is taking center stage as Aretha Franklin. During the BET Awards on Sunday, MGM released the first teaser trailer for Respectthe upcoming biographical film on Franklin, the legendary singer who died at the age of 76 years, in August of 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Despite the fact that the clip is less than two minutes long, is nothing less than incredible, as Hudson embodies Franklin, demanding a little respect.

The film, directed by Liesl Tommy, follows the late singer’s rise to stardom. Hudson stars as Franklin along with an all-star cast, including Forest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Mary J. Blige, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tracey Scott Wilson, and Tate Donovan. Watch the short teaser above before the film hits theaters this December.
